Finally we have now up blu-ray screen captures of Jessica’s very first movie, Blackbeard. This movie is a made-for-tv production aired by Hallmark Channell TV back in 2006. Jessica plays Charlotte Ormand – Robert Maynard’s love interest. It was filmed in Thailand in 2005.

You were up for an Oscar alongside your co-star Octavia Spencer for The Help, was that a bit awkward?

It would have been awkward if I was set on winning but I wasn’t. A year ago it was ‘Jessica Chastain who?’ and now it’s ‘Oscar-nominated Jessica Chastain’. I can’t help but smile saying that.

You walked down the red carpet for the Cannes premiere of The Tree of Life holding Brad Pitt and Sean Penn’s hands, whose idea was that?

In the car on the way to the red carpet I was so nervous, I was shaking and crying. When I got there and saw Sean and Brad, who’d done it a million times, they told me to grab their hands. They are class-act gentlemen.

When actress Jessica Chastain attended the Sundance Film Festival more than a year ago, making the rounds for the film Take Shelter, she spoke on a panel for The Creative Coalition. The focus was squarely on her co-star Michael Shannon, who had been graced with an Oscar nom — and hardly on the 30-year-old newcomer.

Boy have times changed. In the span of about a year, Chastain’s profile has risen to the top thanks to the deluge of films featuring this new It Girl and drawing critical acclaim.

Though appearances in such films as Tree of Life, Take Shelter, Corialanus and The Debt, to mention four, she has captured both public and critical attention. But it was The Help that garnered three crucial nominations including one for Chastain in the Best Supporting Actress Oscar category.

Jessica was the highlight of last week’s Oscars red carpet, and EW has chosen her their prime spot on the best dressed list.

After making every stop on the awards circuit this season, Jessica Chastain had her breakout style moment on the one red carpet where it really counts: the Oscars. Chastain’s one-of-a-kind silk organza Alexander McQueen gown stood out as the night’s best dress and instantly catapulted the actress, who has been building up her résumé with films like The Help and The Tree of Life, into the big leagues. “When I put it on, it feels like everything that I am experiencing tonight wrapped into one garment,” says Chastain, 30, who was not only attending her first Academy Awards but was there as a nominee. “The work they put into it, the embroidery, the details, the perfect fit, the colors – all remind me of the moment and made me emotional.”
