Variety – Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”) will be feted at Deauville American Film Festival with a tribute.
Previous Deauville honorees include Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Susan Sarandon, Robin Wright and Naomi Watts.
“Through her successive roles, (Chastain) has confirmed her emotional capacity to grab the limelight like no one since Nicole Kidman, and the Festival presented her with its “New Hollywood” award.(…) We salute her grace and talent, and the beauty of the truth she brings to her performance, which Christopher Nolan and Guillermo del Toro will raise to new heights in their forthcoming films,” said Bruno Barde, Deauville’s artistic director.
Added Barde, “The tribute is a token of our affection, admiration, recognition and esteem for the talent of the recipient. For the past few years, we have been paying tribute to those actresses who embody the cinema of today, and who will form the legacy of tomorrow.”
Chastain has been on Deauville’s radar since her performance in Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life.” She received the festival’s New Hollywood award in 2011, the release year of “Take Shelter,” which won Deauville’s Grand Prize.
The star’s upcoming movies include “A Most Violent Year,” Del Toro’s “Crimson Peak,” “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby,” “Miss July” and Nolan’s “Interstellar.”
Jessica and actor Chiwetel Ejiofor was awarded last night as actress and actor of the year at Ischia Global Fest. It was also the Italian premiere of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them, showed up at the festival. Check in our gallery some pictures of the evening:
FYI: Jessica Chastain wore a glittering Mary Katrantzou dress.

As we announced earlier this month, Jessica is honoured as best actress in Ischia Global, and I have a few pictures of her and Gian Luca attending the event. Thanks to Claudia and Mari for their help on finding some of the pictures.
As we announced earlier, Jessica presented at the June 30 Public Forum event Shakespeare in America at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Unfortunately we don’t have any official/HQ picture of the event, but a few Instagram pictures has surfaced.
Also, Theater Mania has published this beautiful picture, followed by an article covering the whole event.
The evening’s crowning glory was a joyous look at the most popular Shakespeare adaptation of the last century, West Side Story. As a reminder of Shakespeare’s uncanny understanding of the human condition, the audience was first treated to Jessica Chastain and Andre Holland performing the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet, the inspiration for West Side.
