Jessica Chastain reckons red-headed actresses are staging a comeback.

The Help, which opens in the UK in the autumn, stars a host of stars known for their fiery locks including Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard and Sissy Spacek.

“Come on, we’ve got Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jessica Chastain and Sissy Spacek. It’s like return of the redheads!”

Based on Kathryn Stockett’s hit novel, The Help, which has premiered in Los Angeles, stars Emma as a budding writer who hatches a plan to tell the stories of black servants working for white families in 1960s Mississippi.

Despite working on back-to-back films like Tree Of Life and Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus for the past few years, most cinema-goers have yet to see Jessica’s performances.

And the 30-year-old joked her introduction has been like a “baptism of fire”.

“It wasn’t like ‘I’m going to dip my toe into this water’, it’s like baptism by fire,” she laughed.

“I mean most people have a film come out and then six months, a year, another one comes out – I have six movies coming out!”

She added: “Thank goodness, I’m very proud of the films I made and I’m really excited to have people watch them and be able to talk about them. But it is scary.”
