The opening date for “The Heiress” was announced yesterday. The broadway play will open on November 1st. The previews start on October 7.
“The Heiress,” starring Jessica Chastain, David Strathairn, Dan Stevens and Judith Ivey, will open Nov. 1 for a limited run through Feb. 10, 2013 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
The play, produced by Paula Wagner, Roy Furman and Stephanie P. McClelland, will mark the Broadway debut of Chastain and Stevens, a star of the PBS series “Downton Abbey.”
Tony nominated playwright and director Moisés Kaufman (“33 Variations,” “The Laramie Project”) is set to direct.
Chastain will take on the role of Catherine Sloper, the character Olivia de Havilland played in 1947’s Oscar-winning film adaptation. The actress was nominated for a Academy Award for best supporting actress for her performance as Celia Foote in “The Help.” Her latest film, “Lawless,” is set for release on Aug. 29.
It was also announced that Tony winner Judith Ivey joined the cast.
