Jess attended yesterday the 2011 New York Film Critics Circle, to receive the award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in The Tree of Life, The Help and Take Shelter. She wore a Lyn Devon dress with Jimmy Choo shoes, and Harry Winston jewelry, and the final result was stunning! Congratulations, Jessica!

“Journeyman” was a tv show aired in 2007 and starred by Kevin McKidd. It told the story of Dan Vasser, a San Francisco reporter who involuntarily travels through time. Jessica Chastain getting set to join Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden film:

“I’m told that Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong and Edgar Ramirez are circling to join the previously discussed ensemble cast of Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton and Chris Pratt. The drama portrays Navy SEAL Team 6?s long hunt for the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. Osama Bin Laden was finally killed in a covert mission last year. Reports today assert that the Pentagon will investigate charges made by Rep Peter King that Oscar-winning ‘The Hurt Locker’ tandem Bigelow and [screenwriter Mark] Boal somehow got inside information about the mission from the Obama Administration in preparing the script.”

The National Society of Film Critics has named Jessica Chastain the best supporting actress for Tree of Life, Take Shelter and The Help! Congratulations to her!

The National Society, which is chaired by David Sterritt, consists of 58 critics from around the country. They named Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia the movie of the year, while best director was handled to Terrence Malick for his Tree of Life. Check the whole list here at The Hollywood Reporter

Last night, Jessica attended the 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs. As previously posted here, she was given the “Spotlight Award”.

The upcoming Broadway revival of “The Heiress” has found its Catherine Sloper: Jessica Chastain, who received critical acclaim for film performances last year as a snubbed southern wife in “The Help” and as a nurturing young mother in “The Tree of Life,” will play the title role in the 1947 play to be directed by Moises Kaufman (“33 Variations”), the producers announced on Thursday.

Ms. Chastain will be making her Broadway debut as the plain-looking daughter who exacts revenge on her overbearing father; Cherry Jones last played the role on Broadway 17 years ago, in a performance that earned her the Tony Award for best actress in a play. Ms. Chastain is a graduate of the Juilliard School with some notable theater credits, such as Desdemona opposite John Ortiz and Philip Seymour Hoffman in the 2009 Off Broadway production of “Othello” and the title role in Oscar Wilde’s “Salome,” with Al Pacino, in Los Angeles. In recent weeks she has earned several critics’ and industry awards and nominations for “The Help,” “The Tree of Life,” and another 2011 film, “Take Shelter” with Michael Shannon.

Mr. Kaufman, in a statement, described Ms. Chastain as “a great actress with chameleon-like prowess and enormous emotional intelligence,” adding, “I think she’s one of the best actresses of her generation.”

The revival of the play by Ruth and Augustus Goetz will be mounted by the film producer Paula Wagner, who is said to be seeking new projects in theater, and the Broadway producers Roy Furman and Stephanie P. McClelland (who worked together on “The Book of Mormon,” “The Addams Family,” and “The History Boys”). No theater, additional casting information or performance schedule has been announced.

“The Tree of Life,” which already has picked up dozens of 2012 film awards, was named Best Picture Monday night by the Online Film Critics Society.

It was the night’s big winner, also picking up awards for Best Director (Terrence Malick), Best Supporting Actress (Jessica Chastain), Best Editing and Best Cinematography. No other film won more than one award.

The film, centering on a Texas family in the 1950s, has won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, the Gotham Award for Best Picture, and Best Picture awards from the San Diego Film Critics Society, San Francisco Film Critics Circle, and the Toronto Film Critics Association. It also has won multiple directing awards for Malick, acting awards for Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain and cinematography awards for Emmanuel Lubezki.

Other Online Film Critics awards went to Michael Fassbender, Best Actor for his performance in “Shame”; Tilda Swinton, Best Actress for her work in “We Need to Talk About Kevin”; and Christopher Plummer, Best Supporting Actor prize for his work in “Beginners.” In addition, Chastain received a special award for the breakout performer of the year

Another special award went to director Martin Scorsese, not only for his work, but for his efforts in the field of film preservation.

“Rango” was named Best Animated Feature and Best Screenplay awards went to “Midnight in Paris” (Original) and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” (adapted). Werner Herzog’s “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” was named Best Documentary and “A Separation” was named best foreign language film.

The 15-year-old film society, which hands out annual awards, consists of reviewers and journalists from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America and the Asia/Pacific Rim region.
