Fresh off her strong performance in The Help, Jessica Chastain has nabbed the female lead opposite Tom Cruise in Universal’s untitled science fiction project being directed by Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski.
The project, formerly known as Oblivion and Horizons, is a love story taking place in an apocalyptic future where most of the population lives in clouds since the Earth is no longer habitable. A Earthbound repairman whose job it is to work on drones that fight alien life forms meets a woman who forces him to question his world view.
Chastain will play Cruise’s lover and partner, who tethers him to the world above the clouds while he’s doing repairwork. She becomes none-too-happy when she discovers he has fallen for anther woman. [Source]

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays the devious Jaime Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones, will star opposite Jessica Chastain in Mama, a Guillermo del Toro-executive produced horror movie being distributed by Universal.
The movie tells the story of a couple – Chastain and Coster-Waldau – who take in their long-lost young nieces and nephews. The kids were found after living in the forest for five years but now murderous events begin to unfold and it becomes clear that a supernatural force is intent on claiming the kids.
Andres Muschietti is directing, expanding the story he first told in his 2008 Spanish-language short. Neil Cross rewrote the script based on an original draft by Muschietti and his sister-partner Barbara Muschietti.
Miles Dale and Barbara Muschietti are producing. The movie will begin shooting October 3 in Toronto.
Check below the Andres Muschietti cut which inspired the movie: (more…)
